Double Oaked Bourbon Whiskey
Starlight Double Oak Bourbon is a bold and refined expression that showcases the remarkable influence of oak maturation on whiskey. This bourbon begins with our estate-distilled whiskey, crafted using our traditional sweet mash fermentation and copper pot still distillation. After aging in new charred American oak barrels, select barrels are transferred into a second freshly charred or toasted oak barrel for additional maturation. This secondary aging allows the bourbon to interact with new layers of oak, deepening its richness and amplifying notes of caramel, vanilla, toasted sugar, and baking spice. The result is a beautifully structured bourbon with remarkable depth and complexity. Aged on the Huber family farm and bottled to preserve its natural character, Starlight Double Oak Bourbon reflects both the heritage and innovation that define the Starlight whiskey program.
The Double Oak Process
Double oak maturation is a technique that deepens the integration between whiskey and oak. After years of aging in its original barrel, the bourbon is carefully transferred into a second new oak barrel where it continues to mature. This additional time with fresh oak enhances the whiskey’s texture and intensifies its natural sweetness while developing richer layers of toasted oak and spice. The result is a bourbon that is fuller, darker, and more expressive — a true showcase of oak craftsmanship.
